Leadership Transition

Leadership Transition

Dear friends,

There is no greater feeling than standing alongside a Habitat family at the dedication of their new home. As they cut the ribbon on their new front door, there is a collective sense of pride surrounding what we have accomplished together – work that would not be possible without your deep commitment and generous support.

Last month, as we wrapped up the first twelve Diamond Park homes, new homeowner Darrell Hendricks shared incredible words of gratitude on behalf of his family on their dedication day. He said “serving others serves you best,” and I could not agree more. If you missed it, you can hear his words here.

After nine years as Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Philadelphia, and so many wall raisings and home dedications, it is now time for me to pass the leadership baton on to a new and proven leader. I am incredibly proud of all we have accomplished together and am humbled by what has been built – both the physical homes built and repaired, as well as the stability and self-reliance of those who now thrive in Habitat homes.

After an intentional process and my ringing endorsement, our Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint Corinne O’Connell as Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia’s new CEO. It is with my 100% confidence in our leadership team, staff, Board of Directors, and Corinne that I feel I can now step aside and into my next chapter with Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia as Senior Advisor for Special Projects.

With the past eight years as Associate Executive Director under her belt, Corinne knows the organization’s history, she has been instrumental in our growth, and she brings passion and commitment to our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. You can rest assured that Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia will continue to change lives in the City of Brotherly Love under Corinne’s experienced leadership. My personal commitment to Habitat and our homeowners remains strong, and I am excited for Corinne and our organization as we make this important transition.

“Serving others serves you best.” It has been an honor and a privilege to have your support and work alongside such a creative and committed Habitat team. In my tenure, it was a true blessing to have more than 500 Habitat families welcome me into their lives! I thank you for your continued support of Habitat’s mission, the confidence you placed in me these past years and the confidence I know you will now share with Corinne as she steps into this well-deserved leadership role as our new CEO.

Here’s to many more ribbon cuttings and open doors.

With gratitude,

Frank
