"I wanted to work for Habitat because it's a great way to learn new community building skills and help grow and strengthen community identity."

Team Volunteers at Habitat Philadelphia

Schedule a Habitat Volunteer Day for your Team!

Habitat Philadelphia's Team Volunteer Program is an opportunity for your organization to commit a day to working together and giving back to the community.

A Team Volunteer Day gives your team members the chance to work hard and have fun together in an exciting, learning-based environment—all while making an important contribution to Habitat’s mission of building homes in partnership with families in need.

Join us to:

Build the effectiveness of your organization

·         Improve communication, cooperation, and camaraderie

·         Interact with coworkers from all levels of your organization

·         Strengthen team spirit and sense of presence in the community

Build your support for the community

·         Help provide the funds needed to build affordable homes in Philadelphia

·         Volunteer the time and dedication of your team members

·         Experience the thrill of immediate, tangible results at a Habitat project site.

There are two ways for your team to volunteer at Habitat Philadelphia:

1. Sponsoring a Team Build Day at a Construction or WHRP site

We are committed to providing volunteer opportunities for teams that contribute financially towards home construction.  We ask that groups sponsor their build day with a financial contribution.*  Requested amounts are as follows:

Build Day on a homebuilding construction site:  $2,500.

Weatherization and Home Repair  volunteer day:  $1,250.

Service Build (reserved for non-profits, schools, service and faith groups): $500.

This donation completely covers the costs incurred by your team of 10 volunteers working with us for a day on one of our construction sites.  (Teams of greater than 10 can consider sponsoring multiple build days, as our schedule allows.)

Why do we ask your team to donate?  On average, each Habitat house costs $140,000 to build, and each WHRP project costs an average of $10,000.  Individual and group contributions are our most important source of funding, and your donation helps us supply the materials, training and supervision needed for a successful Team Build Day.  It also supports our other programs, such as property acquisition, support for our partner families, and expansion of our mission throughout the city.

Funds can be raised by individuals, companies, or through matching funds and other grants.  By sponsoring your build day, your organization takes a leading role in addressing the critical issue of poverty housing in Philadelphia.  We’re happy to offer ideas for successfully raising funds through projects, activities and events.

*Please note:  your donation is fully tax-deductible.  Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  (Tax ID: 42-1580163)

2. Team Volunteering at the ReStore

We can schedule your team’s volunteer day at the Habitat ReStore without a financial donation.  Volunteering at the ReStore is a great option for all groups, including those that aren’t able to raise funds for a Team Build Day on a construction site.

How does it work?  The ReStore accepts donations of new and used building supplies, home goods, appliances, etc., and sells them to the public at greatly reduced prices.  Every penny we make here goes towards future homebuilding projects—which means that volunteering at the Restore directly helps us raise money to build more Habitat houses!  Volunteers are critical for processing, organizing and stocking donations, as well as providing customer service to visitors.

We’re happy to work with your team to schedule a day for you at the ReStore, where your work will serve as the very first piece of the Habitat homebuilding process.  It’s a vital part of our mission, and it makes for a great day of volunteering with your team, too!
